The next stage of the International Educational Grant Project "FashionTEX" which took place at the Amsterdam Fashion Academy, was preceded by training for lecturers of educational institutions and gaining in-depth knowledge of three-dimensional design of fashion industry products and practical experience in the Clo3D program.

Within the framework of the project, the teachers of the Department of Fashion and Style, Associate Professor Alla Rubanka and Assistant Yana Mamchenko, took several meaningful courses to improve their product design skills based on modern digital technologies and further implement the knowledge gained in the educational process in the study programs “Modelling, Design, and Artistic Decoration of Light Industry Products” and “Design and Technology of Garments”.

Among the courses completed: Clo3D for beginners on the Udemy platform (April-May 2024), CLO Basic training (24-28 June 2024), CLO Intermediate training (22-26 July 2024), CLO Advanced training (12-23 August 2024), which is confirmed by the certificates of successful completion by the teachers.

The lecturer of the CLO Basic training and CLO Intermediate training online courses was Mariam Mchitarian, a representative of CLO Virtual Fashion GmbH. As part of the training, the lecturers mastered basic and intermediate Clo3D skills, including the basics of designing patterns and parts, stitching them together, adding material textures, prints, accessories, product simulation, etc., as well as drawing product outlines with a 3D pen directly on the avatar, setting up material parameters for complex textures, adding finishing stitches and decorative elements, preparing images for rendering and patterns for production, setting up light for rendering, etc.

3D professionals in various fields taught the in-depth 5-day CLO Advanced training course – Simon Voelkl, Vivian Boehmer, and Daniel Mohr. The speakers shared their own experience and valuable tips on the specifics of developing virtual products, including clothing and accessories, simulating a multi-layer set and eliminating collisions, setting parameters for the physical and mechanical properties of materials, lighting sources when rendering images, animation, as well as specific ways to achieve realistic products in 3D design.

Adele Parker, one of the experts of the FashionTEX grant project in 3D clothing and textile design, a lecturer at the Amsterdam Fashion Academy, also conducted a series of thorough and informative online trainings on digital design of products of varying complexity and artistic and compositional design as part of the lecturers' training. Professor Olha Yezhova, Associate Professor Alla Rubanka, and Assistant Yana Mamchenko joined the training sessions.

We are sincerely grateful for the rich, informative courses, the knowledge gained, and the opportunity to improve practical skills in digital design.
