The ESL "Finishing of Textile Materials" works in the following scientific areas: nanotechnology for finishing textile materials, which involves the development of technologies for creating textile materials with special properties.

A distinctive feature of the educational and scientific laboratory is the use of modern technical means and equipment and the latest teaching technologies for practical classes and laboratory work within the educational process in professional training disciplines of the relevant field; for higher education students to acquire research skills and abilities; to apply the acquired knowledge in practice and complete coursework, bachelor's and master's theses (projects); to conduct research as part of postgraduate and doctoral dissertations, in terms of research work, economic contracts and contracts for the provision of scientific and technical services.

The educational and scientific laboratory for the finishing of textile materials provides research work in the following scientific areas:

• development of technologies for finishing textile materials using nanotechnology;
• creation of materials with new properties — antibacterial, biocidal, electrically conductive, magnetic;
• improvement of colouring and dyeing processes for textile fibres.
