On November 25, 2024, a meeting of the scientific circle «Actual issues of private law» was held (the head of the scientific group is O.M. Koval). Topic: «Legal Problems of Adapting National Legislation to New Technologies».

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the group, Associate Professor Koval O.M., emphasized the relevance of the topic in connection with the rapid development of digital technologies, which are changing not only social life, but also legal systems. She noted that the integration of innovative technologies into the legal field is an important step in ensuring the stability of legal relations and protecting the rights of subjects.

The participants of the meeting considered the following key issues: problems of regulating artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on legal relations; legal aspects of using blockchain technologies in the field of concluding contracts and data management; the need to create regulations to regulate the operation of digital platforms and protect user rights.

Particular attention was paid to international experience, in particular: legislative initiatives of the European Union in the field of artificial intelligence regulation, such as the AI Act; examples of legal regulation of technologies in the USA and China, which influence the formation of global standards.

Participants actively discussed the risks associated with the implementation of new technologies, in particular: ensuring cybersecurity and personal data protection; legal liability for actions performed using artificial intelligence; issues of integrating «smart contracts» into national legislation.

During the discussion, higher education students proposed several practical initiatives, including the development of a concept for adapting Ukrainian legislation to innovative technologies. They also emphasized the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to addressing these issues, which requires cooperation between lawyers, IT specialists, and representatives of government agencies.

Members of the scientific circle concluded that the introduction of technologies into the legal sphere is inevitable and requires effective legal mechanisms that will ensure a balance between innovation and the protection of citizens' rights.
