A MEETING OF THE SCHOOL OF THE YOUNG LINGUIST: TEXT ANALYSIS: HOW COMPUTERS UNDERSTAND LANGUAGE

On April 17, 2025, the Department of Philology and Translation hosted a regular meeting of the student research group "School of the Young Linguist". The topic of the meeting: "Text Analysis: How Computers Understand Language". The event was hosted by the head of the club, Associate Professor of the Department of Philology and Translation, M.O. Vyshnevska.

During the event, students had the opportunity to:

  • Learn about the basic principles of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and its applications
  • Explore different approaches to text analysis: from traditional linguistic methods to deep learning
  • Discuss key technologies such as tokenization, part-of-speech tagging, and sentiment analysis
  • Get hands-on experience with text processing tools and their limitations
  • Analyze examples of successful NLP applications in real-world projects

The meeting allowed participants to better understand the interaction between linguistics and computer technology, as well as the prospects for the development of this field.
