MEETING OF THE SCIENTIFIC CLUB “VOCATIONAL EDUCATION”
On October 15, 2024, a regular meeting of the scientific club “Vocational Training” took place at the Department of Philology and Translation. The topic of the meeting was “Automation and job displacement”.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the club, associate professor Kseniia Kugai, briefly outlined the purpose and objectives of the meeting. It was noted that automation is an integral part of technological progress, but it also raises some questions related to changes in the labor market.
The main issues discussed were:
- The impact of automation on various sectors of the economy. Club members exchanged views on which sectors of the economy are most susceptible to automation and which professions may be replaced by robots. It was noted that automation affects not only manufacturing but also the service sector, as well as creative professions.
- The consequences of automation for employment. It was discussed how automation affects unemployment rates, and what new professions may emerge as a result of technological progress.
- The social consequences of automation. Social problems associated with automation were considered, such as inequality, poverty, and social tension.
- Opportunities and challenges for education. It was emphasized that education must adapt to new realities, training specialists who can work in an automated environment. Participants discussed the need to develop skills that are difficult to automate, such as creativity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence.
The meeting of the scientific student club “Vocational Training” demonstrated a high level of interest among students in the issues of the future labor market and the impact of technological progress on people’s lives. The discussion of the topic “Automation and job displacement” allowed participants to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing society.
