Today we live in an era of rapid electronics development. Modern technology certainly improves comfort and quality of life, but at the same time creates another problem - an increase in electromagnetic radiation in the environment.
This problem is most acutely felt in enclosed spaces with a large number of electronic equipment, the radiation of which affects not only the operator working with the object, but also the correct operation of the equipment itself. Therefore, there is a huge problem of electromagnetic protection.
During the 2024-2025 academic year, at the meetings of the «Electrochemistry and Ecology» scientific club, students acquired practical skills in improving the methodology for manufacturing composite materials for protection against electromagnetic radiation, and studied the structure and physical properties of the manufactured protective composite materials. The students used the knowledge they gained to write articles and qualifying master's theses.
Another important area of the club is environmental. Proper nutrition is an important part of everyone's life. And the content of nitrates in food is of great interest. Therefore, the students were interested in checking the nitrate content of vegetables and fruits purchased in different places: in a supermarket, at specialised fairs, and at natural markets. The students prepared fresh juices from seasonal and exotic fruits and vegetables and then used a special nitrate meter to check the nitrate content. An excessive level of nitrates compared to the maximum permissible level indicated excessive or uncontrolled application of mineral fertilisers to the agricultural plots where the purchased products were grown.
The members of the student scientific club «Electrochemistry and Ecology» are happy to attend the meetings, as the additional information received at these classes enriches them with new useful knowledge and skills.
As a result of our work, three abstracts and one article were published. Our students also participated in two international conferences.
