POLITICAL DIALOGUE

As part of the meeting of the scientific club "Discussion" organized by the Department of Private and Public Law on April 25, 2025, dedicated to the topic "Political Communication and Media," a highly relevant case was discussed: the participation of first-year student Maksym Maroka, majoring in Political Science (Educational Program: Political Science and Public Communications), in an election campaign event of the presidential candidate of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki.

The meeting, which took place in February 2025 in the city of Augustów (Podlaskie Voivodeship, Poland), was part of Karol Nawrocki’s regional pre-election tour.

Maksym Maroka had the opportunity to engage in a direct conversation with the candidate, pose questions concerning the future of Ukrainian-Polish partnership, and gain insight into the candidate’s vision for overcoming historical differences in order to build trustworthy and stable intergovernmental relations.

During the meeting of the academic club “Discussion”, Maksym Maroka presented a report based on his participation in a pre-election meeting with Karol Nawrocki, a candidate for the presidency of Poland.

In his presentation, Maksym highlighted that the key points of Nawrocki’s electoral platform included strengthening national sovereignty, supporting regional development, and promoting tourism. Particular attention was devoted to a critique of the European Union’s energy policy, with Nawrocki calling for its revision in the interest of Polish society. The candidate also outlined plans to reduce utility costs and enhance control over illegal migration from Belarus.

In terms of foreign policy, Nawrocki advocates for a selective partnership approach, grounded in the national interests of Poland. In conversation, he emphasized his support for Ukraine—under conditions of mutual respect, strategic dialogue, and humanitarian solidarity.

The student discussion of M. Maroka’s report took place in the context of a deeper reflection on modern formats of political communication and the role of campaign rhetoric in shaping a candidate’s political image.

As part of the discussion, Maksym also shared his personal impressions of the politician himself. According to him, Karol Nawrocki appeared confident and decisive, yet open and friendly—a person who shows genuine concern for the future of his nation.

An important outcome of the academic club meeting was the development of a research initiative aimed at systematically analyzing the strategic priorities and tactical methods used by politicians to engage members of civil society in the electoral process.

This initiative was successfully implemented, and the research findings were presented by Maksym Maroka at the 12th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Scientific Achievements of Contemporary Society” (June 27–29, 2025, London, United Kingdom) in the form of a report titled “Interaction Between Politicians and Civil Society During the Pre-Election Period”, under the academic supervision of Associate Professor Natalia Fastovets, PhD in Public Administration.

Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design continues to support the active involvement of students in real political processes as a key element of its practice-oriented educational model, which is focused on the development of analytical thinking, civic engagement, and research skills.
