Through the 2024-2025 academic year, in accordance with the work plan of the student scientific club «Economics and Business», eight meetings were held under the supervision of Nataliia Gudkova, an Associate Professor of the Department of Philology and Translation at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.
On August 23, 2024, a meeting dedicated to the topic The Impact of Globalization on Local Economies was held. Students prepared presentations in which they discussed prospects for national economic development in the context of global changes and initiated a discussion on current challenges, such as increasing inequality and the loss of local identity.
On September 29, 2024, a meeting on the topic Ethics in Business: Profit vs. Corporate Social Responsibility was held at the department, where students from the IT specialization, group MgIT-24, gathered for the session. Through discussions and presentations, they explored how their field intersects with business ethics, focusing on issues such as data privacy, sustainability, and social impact. They emphasized the importance of making ethical decisions in IT, drawing parallels between technical expertise and principles of corporate social responsibility.
On October 25, 2024, a meeting was held on the topic The Future of Work: Automation and AI in the Workplace. Participants examined how automation and artificial intelligence are transforming the nature of work and the skill requirements for employees. Students discussed the potential benefits and risks of implementing new technologies in the labor market, prepared analytical presentations on future challenges in professional development, and raised questions about the impact of automation on employment and social stability.
On November 22, 2024, a meeting was held on the topic Sustainable development and green business practices. Students prepared a case study of corporate environmental initiatives, analyzed green economy strategies, and discussed the challenges and prospects of implementing environmentally responsible practices in business. Special attention was paid to assessing the economic feasibility and social impact of eco-brands.
On March 14, 2025, a meeting took place on the topic The role of government in economic regulation. Participants considered various models of state market regulation, analyzed examples of both effective and problematic government interventions in the economy, and discussed the balance between market freedom and social protection.
On April 4, 2025, a meeting was held on the topic The gig economy: benefits and drawbacks for workers. Students explored the pros and cons of the gig economy, discussed issues of social protection and legal aspects of freelancing, and shared their own experiences with participation on online platforms.
On April 25, 2025, a meeting was dedicated to the topic Global trade wars and their impact on international business. Participants reviewed recent trade disputes among leading economic players, analyzed the consequences of tariff wars for global supply chains, and discussed adaptation strategies for international corporations.
On May 16, 2025, a meeting was held on the topic The rise of digital currencies: opportunities and risks. Students prepared analytical reports on the development of blockchain technologies, compared the advantages and risks of cryptocurrencies and central bank digital currencies (CBDC), and discussed regulatory and ethical challenges associated with the digitalization of the financial system.
Each meeting contributed to deepening students' knowledge and encouraged them to critically analyze contemporary issues in the fields of economics and business.
The outcomes of the scientific club’s work during this period were reflected in articles, theses, and reports presented by club members at scientific conferences.
