On 26 September 2024, the Department of Philology and Translation held a regular meeting of the Chemical Technologies Scientific Club. The topic of the meeting was an important issue of our time - the role of chemical technologies in improving human health (Chemistry for a healthier world).
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the club, senior lecturer Vitalina Denysenko, briefly introduced the purpose and objectives of the meeting. It was noted that chemical technologies have become a crucial part of our lives.
The main issues discussed were:
The use of chemical technologies for the development of medicine.
The participants of the group noted the positive impact of chemical technologies on the development of medicine, namely the creation of medicines, vaccines, antiseptics and new methods of diagnosis and treatment.
Using Chemical Technologies to Improve the Quality of Life
The production of household chemicals (detergents, cosmetics, polymers) and synthetic materials (plastics, textiles, construction materials) was discussed.
Use of chemical technologies for agriculture
The participants of the group noted the contribution of technologies to the creation of fertilisers, plant protection products, growth stimulants, as well as increasing yields and pest control.
Use of chemical technologies for energy and industry
The role of technologies for the production of fuels, lubricants, alternative energy sources (biofuels, hydrogen), as well as the development of technologies for water and air purification and waste treatment was noted.
The meeting of the Chemical Technologies scientific club demonstrated a high level of student interest in the topical issues of the use of chemical technologies in society. The discussion of the topic ‘The role of chemical technologies in improving human health’ allowed the participants to better understand the complexity of human-technology interaction.
