On November 7, 2025, within the framework of the work of the scientific circle "Scientific developments in the design and manufacturing of fashion industry products" (heads: associate professors of the Department of Fashion Technology Antonina Babych and Tymofiy Lipsky), a seminar was held on the topic "Use of innovative technologies in the design and manufacturing of designer products".
The head of the scientific circle, Associate Professor Tymofiy Lipskyy, introduced students to innovations in the industry regarding technological and technical support for footwear enterprises based on the results of the international educational training program on the design and manufacture of individual orthopedic footwear, of which he personally participated and attended in September–October 2025 (Unbroken Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center, Lviv, Ukraine).

Tymofiy Mykolayovych noted that the Department of Fashion Technology cooperates with German partners - the company Praeparatio e.V. under the GIZ - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit program, funded by the German Government. Talented and inquisitive students and postgraduates have the opportunity to join and gain experience in the specialty.
Currently, Ukraine has a need for the manufacture of orthopedic footwear due to military events in the country. The topic of the seminar was to provide applicants with theoretical knowledge on the use of innovative technologies in the design and manufacture of designer products, so it was decided to familiarize students with the segment of technologies and products for special orthopedic purposes, which are manufactured individually and which are also designer in this segment.
During the work of the group meeting, the following issues were considered: biomechanics and diagnostics of the foot; study of the principles of construction and manufacture of orthopedic insoles; modeling of shoe design and assembly of upper blanks; technological processes of tightening shoes on the insole, manufacturing and fastening the sole.

During the seminar, the applicants were introduced to the German system of specialist training, which is based on a systematic approach to biomechanical diagnostics of the foot, modeling of an individual insole and the use of modern materials and technological equipment; working with a portable 3D scanner, the technique of manual plastering of the foot, creating a trial model of shoes from film and using a vacuum press with heating mode.

The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere. The heads of the scientific circle, associate professors Tymofiy Lipsky and Antonina Babych answered the questions of the applicants according to the topic of the seminar. All participants were impressed by the technological innovations in the segment of orthopedics and limb prosthetics, shared their impressions and experience gained during the seminar.
We hope that such seminars will encourage scientific work, creativity and self-development.
