About the Department

Mission of the Department of Business Economics and Tourism is to prepare innovative, creative and competitive economists and tourism specialists who are able to make informed decisions in the conditions of turbulence of world economic processes that will ensure the effectiveness of enterprises, organizations and institutions of different forms of ownership in various spheres of economy, including in the fashion industry.

Deepening cooperation with students, the faculty strives to provide:

  • creative and professional self-realization of students;
  • achievement of high results by students in applied research and fundamental research;
  • raising the level of cultural and national-patriotic education of students;
  • formation of the principles of moral and ethical and business communication and business conduct for students;
  • satisfaction of domestic business demand in highly skilled specialists-economists.

The Department of Business Economics and Tourism is a graduate and provides training in the following specialties: 051 Economics (educational degrees - "Bachelor", "Master", "Doctor of Philosophy"); 073 Management (educational degrees - "Bachelor", "Master"), 242 Tourism (educational degree - "Bachelor").

 1. SPECIALTY 051 ECONOMICS, EDUCATIONAL STAGE "BACALAVR"

The purpose of preparing bachelors in the specialty "Economics" is to provide economic education in the field of social and behavioral sciences with broad access to employment and further education. Formation and development of general and professional competencies in the field of Economics involves different opportunities for employment and careers that are aimed at gaining economic knowledge.

Term of studies: 4 years - full-time study, 4 years 5 months - correspondence and correspondence-distance education.

The goal of the Fashion Business Economics education program is to create and develop general and professional competencies in the fashion industry, aimed at gaining students the skills in managing business projects in the field of fashion-industry, retail and distribution, branding and fashion-marketing.

Graduates

Graduates from the specialty 051 Economics can take senior positions in the following organizations and departments: planning and economic; financial labor organization and wages in production; preparation of production; marketing; management systems at the levels of the city and district. Employment at enterprises of any organizational and legal form (including at enterprises of light industry and consumer services).

Graduates from the specialties 073 Management and 242 Tourism can take senior positions in: companies, tour operators, travel agencies, travel agencies, small and medium-sized tourist service companies; at tourist firms of any organizational-legal form at the positions of junior specialists and specialists in the areas of operational management (logistics), sales and marketing, personnel management, and other positions related to the implementation of specific management functions (head of a travel company, administrator, deputy head tourist adviser, specialist in tourism market research, tourism manager development manager, advertising manager, expert in methods expansion of marketing market for tourist products, public relations manager, human resources manager).

History

The history of the Department of Economics of the company dates from the day the university was founded - 1930. During this period, the Department of Engineering and Economics established the Department: "General Economics and Accounting" (headed by Prof.BO Chorny), "Planning" ( Head - Prof. M. Schelonin) and "Labor Economics" (headed by professor AM Gornostay-Podolsky). On the basis of these departments, the department of "Applied Economics and Planning" was organized later (managers in different years - Prof. M. Schelonin and Prof. S. I. Podgaits). Throughout the entire history of the university's operation, the department's work was carried out in accordance with the needs of the country's economy in highly qualified specialists-economists with deep knowledge of the specifics of production and was accompanied by the discovery of new specialties.

In 1940 the Department reorganized and allocated the departments of "Economics and Industrial Planning" (headed by Prof. Y.L Slavsky, later - S. I. Podgaits) and the Departments "Organizations and Planning of Production" (headed by Prof. L. Ye. Lightning).

In 1945, after the return of the Institute for evacuation, the department was again united into the department "Economics, Planning and Organization" (headed by Prof. L.E. Gorelik). From 1947 to 1953, the chair was headed by G.S. Messierzhnikov, and from 1953 to 1987 - N.A. Adamov

In 1965, taking into account the needs of the industry in training graduates with more in-depth knowledge of the specifics of production, the department was divided into two: "Economics, organization and planning of leather, footwear and chemical fibers (headed by professor GP I.Pyryan) and" Economics, organization and planning of sewing and knitting production "(headed by Prof. N. A. Adamov). From 1987 to 2002, the department was headed by M.V. Svischov

In 2002, in connection with the opening of the specialty Accounting and Audit, the department was renamed the Department of Economics, Accounting and Audit (headed by Prof. AP Grechan).

In 2013, the Department of Enterprise Economics (headed by Prof. VV Loiko) was formed as a result of optimization of the structure of the Faculty of Economics and Business.

In 2016, taking into account the world trends and trends in the training of highly qualified personnel in the field of economy and business, expanding the range of specialties and specialization in the preparation of bachelors and masters, the department was renamed to the Department of Business Economics. The chair was headed by Doctor of Economics, associate professor A.O. Miller. The department teaches for all the specialties of the University such disciplines as: "Fundamentals of Economic Theory", "International Economics", "International Economic Relations", "Foreign Economic Activity", "Business Planning" and others.

In 2018, in connection with the expansion of specialization, the department was renamed the Department of Business Economics and Tourism.

Today, the faculty of the Department of Business Economics and Tourism teaches for all the economic specialties of the University such disciplines as: "Fundamentals of Economic Theory", "Macroeconomics", "Microeconomics", "International Economics", "International Economic Relations", "Foreign Economic Activity "," Business Planning "and others. The department is a graduate from the specialties 051 Economics and 073 Management.

Scientific and pedagogical workers

The department has:  6 professors, including 4 doctors of economic sciences; 5 docents (all candidates of sciences); 1 senior teachers.

Today on Department of Enterprise Economics and tourism work:

MELNYK Alona, Head of the Department, Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor.

In 2001, he graduated from Khmelnytsky Technological University of Podillya in the following specialties: "Management of the organization" (with honors), "Practical psychology" (second higher education).

In 2005, defended a dissertation for a degree in economics, a specialty in economics, organization and management of enterprises on the subject: "Economic mechanism of adaptation of enterprises to a competitive environment".

In 2009 he was awarded the title of Associate Professor of the Department of International Economic Relations of Khmelnytsky National University.

In the year of 2015 he defended a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Economics in a specialty - the world economy and international economic relations on a theme: "Laws and factors of transformation of world economic crises".

Teaching subjects: "Enterprise Economics", "International Economics", "International and Regional Economics", "Economics and Management of Corporations".

Research interests:  foreign economic activity of domestic business entities in conditions of integration and globalization, formation of mechanisms of adaptation and development of enterprises and economy of Ukraine in the conditions of world economic crises, transformation of conditions of economic activity of domestic industrial enterprises of light industry, economy of Ukraine and its prospects in the conditions of globalization and the transformation of international economic relations, the impact of global economic crises on the development of the global economy.

He is the author of more than 110 scientific works, including 6 monographs and 10 international publications, which are included in international rating databases.

 

OLSHANSKA Alexandra, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Doctor of Economics, Professor.

In 1987, she graduated from Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University. Graduated from the postgraduate study program at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine's Productive Forces Research Council and in 2002 defended his thesis for a Candidate Degree in Economics.

From 2008 to 2016 he headed the Department of Regional Studies and Tourism at Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University.

In 2014 he defended a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Economics. In 2015 he received the academic title of professor.

In 2016 he was elected to the position of Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business of Kyiv National University of Technology and Design.

He was awarded with an honorary diploma of the Supreme Council of Ukraine "For Services to the Ukrainian People", the Honorary Diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Gratitude of the Kyiv Mayor.

Professor O.V. Olshanskaya is the Deputy Chairman of the Specialized Academic Council D 26.102.05 and a member of the Specialized Academic Council D. 26.006.08.

She is a member of editorial boards of leading professional scientific publications: "Bulletin of the KNUTD" (Series "Economic Sciences"); "Economy and entrepreneurship"; "Economy and the state".

Professor O.V. Olshanskaya is a scientific leader and consultant in the preparation of candidate and doctoral dissertations of applicants, postgraduate students and doctoral students of the department.

Teaching subjects:  "International and Regional Economics", "Geography of Tourism".

Research interests:  conceptual approaches to the formation and functioning of national and regional socio-economic systems, sustainable development of the economy; problems of modernization of higher education and implementation of educational innovations.

He is the author of more than 100 scientific and educational-methodical publications, which reflect the range of its research interests, which creatively combine scientific achievements with the teaching practice of higher education.

 

BORETSKA Natalia, Doctor of Economics, professor.

In 1976 graduated from Donetsk State University.

In 1992 he defended a dissertation for the degree of a candidate of economic sciences at the Kyiv National Economic University in the specialty "Economics, organization and management of the national economy and its branches".

In 1999 he was awarded the title of academician of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine.

In 2003 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences on the topic "Social Protection of the Population in the Conditions of the Transformation of the Ukrainian Economy", specialty "Economic Theory".

In 2005, he was awarded the title of professor.

From October 1995 to 01.06.2016 he worked as the rector of Donetsk Institute of Market and Social Policy, Doctor of Economics, professor, academician of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine.

Awarded: "The Excellence in Education of Ukraine", the Diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, "Honorary Worker of Tourism of Ukraine", the Honorary Sign "For a Significant Contribution to the Development of the Region", the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, the Golden Symbol of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Ukraine "For a significant contribution to the development of the national Education ", other honors.

Research interests: development and introduction of innovative forms, methods and technologies of training specialists; systematic analysis of theoretical and practical problems of social protection of the population; development and implementation of social matrices for the development of regions; labor market research; substantiation of directions of development of the system of education and science of Ukraine.

Author of more than 120 scientific works.

 

DENYSENKO Mykola, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Corresponding Member of the International Academy of Investments and Construction, Academician of Construction Academy of Ukraine, Technological Academy of Ukraine.

In 1972 graduated from Odessa Civil Engineering Institute.

In 1981 defended PhD thesis.

In 2002 defended the doctoral thesis on the theme «Scientific and Methodological Bases of the Investments Activation», speciality 08.00.03 – «Economy and Management of a National Economy».

Awards: Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Certificate of honors and breastplates «For Scientific Achievements» and «Excellence in Education of Ukraine». The Order of Saint Vladimir of second degree, and third degree, The Order of Saint Nicholas Thaumaturge, The Order of Michael the Archangel, The Medal «Veteran of Labour».

Teaching subjects: «Economics and innovation organization», «Innovative enterprise development», «Investment activity of enterprise», «Providing of innovations», «Methodology for modern scientific research».

Research interests: investigation of the problems of investment-innovative activityreformation of economics and its branchesintroduction of new technologies to increase production efficiencypractical and methodical problems at all stages of investment process.

Author of over 450 scientific publications, including 40 monographs, textbooks labelled with MES of Ukraine.

 

BUGAS Valeriy, Candidate of Science (Economics), Professor of the Department of Business Economics and tourism.

In 1971 he graduated from the KSU. Shevchenko Specialty: economist-internationalist, teacher of political economy. In May 1974 he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic: "The analysis of the theories of post-industrialism". He headed the Department of Economic Theory and Finance from 2001 to 2003 and the Department of Political Economy from 2004 to 2008.

He has prepared two candidates for economic sciences: Kadri Satar Habib (1991), Kovalenko D.I. (2004).

He was awarded with the honorary badge «Excellence in Education of Ukraine» for the fruitful scientific and pedagogical activity on the training of highly skilled specialists and scientists (2005).

Teaching subjects: «Economic Theory», «International Economics», «History of Economics and Economic Thought», «Microeconomics».

Research interests: modern economic thought of the USA; studying the experience of market mechanisms in the economies of developed countries.

VORONKOVA Tayisiya, Ph.D. in Economics, Professor of the Department of Business Economics and tourism.

In 1970 graduated from Kyiv National Economy Institute named after D.S. Korotchenko majoring in «Production Planning».

In 1986 defended Ph.D. thesis «Development, Formation and Application of Socio-Cultural Fund Measures and Building Construction».

Advance training:

  • 1994 – Washington Academy of Education development (certificate – business advisory)
  •  2009, 2014 – Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Institute of post-graduate training – advance training for teachers (distance teaching).

Research interests: investment-innovative process in economics, business-planning, antirecession activity of enterprises.

KOSTINETS Valeriya, Candidate of Science (Economics), an official member of the International Scientific Association of Economists and Lawyers "Consilium".

In 2010, she graduated from Kyiv University of Tourism, Economics and Law in the specialty "Tourism".

In 2011, he graduated from the Kryvy Rih Economic Institute at KNEU. V. Hetman, specialty "Marketing" (with honors).

He defended a thesis for a degree in economics, specializing in 08.00.03 - Economics and Management of National Economy. Subject of the candidate's dissertation: "Strategy for the development of tourism industry in Ukraine on the basis of branding".

Professional development: 2017 - internship at the Shumen University "Bishop Konstantin Preslavsky" (Shumen, Bulgaria), course "Innovations in education", received the corresponding certificate.

Teaching subjects: "Organization of Tourism", "Economy of Tourism", "Geography of Tourism".

Research interests: tourist brand-management, marketing of territories, strategic tourism development in Ukraine, contact staff of tourist companies.

He is the author of more than 30 scientific works, including 4 international publications in the editions included in the Scopus rating scientific and mathematical database, and the monograph "Brand-oriented programs in the management of tourist destinations".

 

LISCHUK Victoria, Candidate of Sciences (Economics), associate professor of the department.

In 2012, she graduated from Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University with a degree in International Economics and received the Master of Economics qualification.

In 2017 he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic "Organizational and Economic Mechanism of Engagement of Foreign Capital in the Economy of Ukraine" and received a Candidate's Degree in Economics from the specialty "Economics and Management of the National Economy".

Teaching subjects: "Global Economy", "International Economics".

Research interests: International economy, investments.

The author and co-author of scientific and educational-methodical publications: 1 monograph, 1 textbook, published more than 25 scientific works.

 

PALCHUK Elena Igorevna, Candidate of Sciences (Economics), Associate Professor.

In 2003 graduated with honors from the Institute of International Relations of Kyiv National University. T. Shevchenko in the specialty "International Economic Relations".

In 2011, the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine defended his Ph.D. thesis on "Factoring in the global financial services market in the conditions of economic globalization".

Teaching subjects:  "International Economics", "Economic Theory", "Foreign Economic Activity of Enterprises".

Research interests: the influence of innovative and information technologies on the economy, the role of the state in the economy of the 21st century, intangible assets and their assessment.

Author of more than 30 scientific works.

 

FOKINA-MEZENTEVA Kateryna, candidate of economic sciences, associate professor.

In 2000, he graduated from the Donetsk State Academy of Management, specializing in "Management of Foreign Economic Activity", and received a qualification as an economist-manager.

The second higher education was received at the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management, which he graduated in 2005 and received a lawyer qualification.

In 2011 he defended his Ph.D. thesis on "Regulation of regional development in the conditions of formation of border cooperation" on the specialty 08.00.05 - development of productive forces and regional economy.

Teaching subjects:  "Economic success of enterprises", "Economic efficiency of enterprise activity", "Operational activity of enterprises", "Retail and distribution", "The condition of world markets".

Research interests: foreign economic and innovative activity of enterprises, international management.

SHATSKA Zoryana, Ph.D. in Economics, Associate Professor.

In 1995 graduated from Ukraine Transport University, speciality «Construction of Highways and Airfields».

In 2010 defended Ph.D. thesis «Adaptive Mechanism of Enterprise Strategy Implementation».

SHULGA Valentyna, Ph.D. in Economics, Associate Professor.

In 2002 graduated from Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, speciality «Enterprise Economics».

In 2008 defended Ph.D. thesis «The Mechanism of Strategic Cost Management of Enterprise in a Competitive Environment», speciality – 08.00.04 «Economics and Enterprise Management (by economic activity)».

Teaching subjects: «Strategic cost management (in foreign language)», «Cost management», «Business social providing», «Strategic cost management», «Enterprise economics and finances» (in foreign students), «Enterprise economic management», «University education».

Research interests: strategic cost management, corporate social responsibility, sustainable development strategy for enterprises.

Author of over 30 scientific publications and teaching materials, including books, textbooks labelled with MES of Ukraine.

 

BUDYAKOVA Olena Yuryevna, Ph.D., Senior Lecturer.

In 2006, he graduated from the Donetsk State Academy of Management, specializing in Management of Organizations, and received a qualification as an Economist.

In 2011, at the Institute of Economic and Legal Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic "Ensuring Professional Qualification Balance of the Regional Labor Market" on the specialty 08.00.07 - Demography, Labor Economics, Social Economy and Politics.

Teaching subjects: "Economics of Labor and Social-Labor Relations", "Enterprise Economics".

Research interests: labor economics, labor market, enterprise economy.

Author of more than 20 scientific works.

 

Educational and laboratory premises

The department has modern facilities: 3 lecture rooms, 2 study room, 1 staffroom and consultation room for caring out tutorials. The department is equipped with a sufficient number of computers and copy equipment. The laboratory teaching staff is in charge of organization, lead-up and the educational process conduct, including providing students with teaching materials.
