From February 6 to March 4, 2023, the students of the bachelor’s and master’s levels of education of the educational programs "Fashion Design" and "Design (by types)" of the Department of Art and Fashion Design underwent internships at the fashion industry enterprises, museums and national reserves of Ukraine and other institutions of Ukraine and abroad.
The goal of the 1st-year bachelor's educational practice (head of practice – Petro Garkin, associate professor) was to make sketches of the flora and fauna with subsequent stylization and use as a creative source for the development of prints, drawings for fabrics and decoration of clothing models. Together with the head of practice, the students visited the National Museum of Natural History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; the Kyiv Zoo; the National Museum of the History of Ukraine; the greenhouses of the Expocenter of Ukraine and the M. M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden; the National Sanctuary Complex "Sophia of Kyiv", the exposition of the "Costume Library" project, and other locations.
So, on February 17, 2023, the students of the first year of the educational practice program visited the National Museum of Natural History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The exposition of the museum traditionally becomes a source of creative searches of novice designers because it contains unique examples of flora and fauna, it tells about the distant times of the history of the native land. A unique thematic exposition dedicated to the history of the development of domestic entomology made a special impression on the higher education seekers: colorful butterflies, incredible spiders, and other exotic insects. The materials collected by the students will be developed in the near future during course projects and practical work on clothing design.
