On April 18, 2023, the Department of Art and Fashion Design (AFD) organized a public lecture on the topic “CREATING A TREND BOOK IN FASHION DESIGN” by Eugene Reabenykiy, a fashion designer, a teacher at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of Ion Creangă State Pedagogical University (Moldova). The moderator of the event was the head of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, Kalyna Pashkevych, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor.
Mr. Eugene, a fashion designer with many years of experience in the development of models and clothing collections, the owner of his brand, and an experienced teacher of fashion design, spoke about fashion trends, forecasting fashion trends, about the methods of creating trend books, which is an important factor in the development of promising collections of clothes. Using specific examples, he reviewed in detail the working methods of one of the most influential current trend bureaus, Carlin International Groupe (Paris, France), as well as other agencies: WGSN, Paris Style Bureau, and Trend Bureau.

The lecture was attended by more than 70 participants: the teachers of KNUTD, as well as bachelor and master students and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Design (educational programs "Fashion Design", "Design (by types)", "Design"), the Faculty of Arts and Fashion (educational programs "Modelling, Design and Artistic Decoration of Light Industry Products", "Design and Technologies of Garments", "Fashion Industry", "Computer Design in the Fashion Industry"), and others.
The students received answers to their questions: «What skills are needed to work as a trend forecaster in the fashion industry? What is the analysis of fashion trends based on? How is the attitude towards clothes changing today?».
The speaker emphasized the importance of obtaining a basic design education for successful implementation in the fashion industry and the need to acquire knowledge in image making, styling, art history, fashion history, sociology, etc.
