The activity of the scientific club “Clothing design using digital technologies” (supervisors: PhD, Assoc. Prof. Alla Rubanka, PhD Lilia Navolska, as. Yana Mamchenko), which operates at the Department of Fashion and Style, always arouses deep interest among students, as it allows them to deepen their knowledge of making collages, sketches, technical drawings, etc. in graphic editors, as well as developing patterns in the computer-aided design system (the license software of which is provided to students by the developer free of charge for educational purposes). This academic year, students had the opportunity to additionally work in the Clo3D three-dimensional clothing design program, the study and licensing of which is provided by the European Union’s educational grant project under the Creative Europe program “Fashion TEX European Academy for Young Designers to Study Innovative Technologies in Digital Fashion Design”.
At the meetings of the club, the participants analyzed the possibilities of using information technology in fashion design; mastered modern modeling and decoration technologies in fashion design, the features of digital fashion design in the modern information space, the principles of designing clothing using 2-D and 3-D modeling programs; learned to develop visualization of clothing in the modern information space using 3-D modeling programs, etc.
The results of the club’s activities included the participation of its members in international competitions. For example, Yevhenia Lazariv participated in the II International Competition for Young Designers “DIGITAL FASHION” held online on October 22, 2024 and received a diploma for the best work in the special nomination “Best Futuristic Design Project”.
The club members Anastasia Molodan, Yevhenia Lazariv, and Iryna Havryliuk also prepared digital shows of their collections for the XXV International Competition of Young Fashion Designers “Pecherski Kashtany” held on May 30, 2025.
At the final meeting of the club, which was held as planned on May 15, 2025, the Open Day of the grant project “Fashion TEX European Academy for Young Designers to Study Innovative Technologies in Digital Fashion Design” was organized, where students of the bachelor's and master's degree programs “Modeling, Design and Artistic Decoration of Light Industry Products” and “Design and Technology of Garments” once again received information about the opportunities that participation in the project opens up for them, including cooperation in September in an international team with students from 11 participating countries to prepare a joint Fashion Show, which will be demonstrated in a physical format in Chemnitz (Germany) and in a holographic show format in Prague (Czech Republic). The speakers of the Open Day were the students of Yevhenia LAZARIV, who made a presentation: “Clo3D – peculiarities of developing digital collections for participation in international competitions” and shared her own experience of developing such collections for 3 competitions. Anastasia MOLODAN shared her personal experience of working in the Clo3D program. Alexey AGARKOV delivered a presentation on Comparing a digital product with a physical prototype. The speakers shared their impressions of mastering the CLO3D three-dimensional clothing modeling program, talked about its capabilities and further plans for use. The students took part in the event with great enthusiasm and expressed a desire to join the project.
