About the distance training:

The distance training is considered to be an individualized process of acquiring knowledge, skills, and methods of cognitive activity, which occurs mainly through the indirect interaction of distant participants in the educational process in a specialized environment that functions on the basis of modern psycho-pedagogical and information and communication technologies" - (Policy Statement on Distance Training, approved by the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated April 25, 2013)

In the process of distance training, e-mail and learning management system (LMS) such as moodle and eFront; means of audio and video communication are used.

To ensure a high level of quality of education services in the educational process leading scientists (professors, associate professors working in KNUTD) and practitioners (heads of enterprises and institutions) are involved in the educational process. During 2008-2013, learning and teaching support material  were developed and implemented in the educational process of the distance training, which includes the following materials:

  • course program;
  • compendium of lectures;
  • guidance on the implementation of control works;
  • guidance on the implementation of course projects (works);
  • tasks for control works;
  • exam (credit) tests (not less than 100 questions for each course);
  • a list of exam questions;
  • a list of literature for self-training.

Throughout the learning process students are provided with instructions by e-mail and on-line communication.

The purpose of distance training is to provide education services through the use of modern information and communication technologies at certain educational or educational and qualification levels in accordance with the state education standards; according to the programs of people's preparation for admission to education institutions, preparation of foreigners and vocational development of workers. The goal of distance training is to provide citizens with the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right to education and professional qualifications, to improve their qualifications regardless of gender, race, nationality, social and property status, kind and nature of occupations, ideological beliefs, membership in parties, attitudes to religion, religion, health, place of residence according to their abilities.

A significant advantage of distance training is the ability to implement access to all levels of education for all those who are not able to study in institutions of higher education in classical forms for one or another reasons:

  • Lack of time. Distance training frees you from having to attend an education institution in a scheduled time. Students themselves regulate the time of studies and learn when it is comfortable for them.
  • Professional or other employment. Distance education gives the opportunity to get education for all those who spend most of their time at work, with their children or with their families. Education can be done at the same time with the doing a career without risk of losing work or being on childcare leave.
  • Territorial distance from education institutions. Distance training is an opportunity to get education for those who live in remote regions of the country or abroad. Distance education provides a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge without leaving their country, region, city.
  • Financial opportunities. Distance training enables students to save considerable money in comparison with other forms of education, with the qualitative knowledge and a diploma of state-level education. First of all, this is explained by the fact that the basis of the educational process in distance education is the purposeful and controlled independent work of the student, who can study at a convenient time and in a convenient place. Accordingly, the education institution reduces the cost of paying for premises, utilities, salaries for teachers, etc.
  • Physical capabilities. Modern information and communication technologies used in distance education provide an opportunity to receive education for people with medical restrictions for education in traditional forms, people with special needs.

Also, the advantages of distance education is that this form of education provides an opportunity to improve the quality of educational services involving highly skilled teachers, practitioners from different fields in the preparation and conduct of distance training, the creation of education Web-resources. Students of distance training receive full electronic compendium of lectures according to the program of full-time education. Remote Internet education also has a positive effect on personal development, increasing the level of self-organization and responsibility, improving the level of computer literacy.

Distance training is possible anywhere, anytime and for anyone, and has already become an important component of virtual socialization of the individual.

Flexibility: Students, receiving distance education, mostly do not attend classroom classes, but study at a convenient time and in a convenient place. A part of the educational process of distance education, which is insignificant in time and volume, can be carried out by part-time training (examinations, practices, laboratory works, etc.). Quantitative and meaningful indicators of this part depend on the direction of training (specialty) and the stage of development of distance education.

Modularity: the basis of the distance education program is the modular principle; each individual course creates an integral view of a particular subject area, which allows a set of independent module courses to form a curriculum that meets individual or group needs.

Parallelism: training is carried out simultaneously with vvocational activities (or with training in another direction), that is, without interruption from work or other activities.

A large audience: the simultaneous use of many sources of education information by a large number of students, communication through students' telecommunication between themselves and with teachers.

Cost: effective use of training areas and facilities, concentrated and unified presentation of information, the use and development of computer simulation should lead to lower costs for training.

Maintainability: the use of new advances in information technology in the educational process that facilitate the entry of people into the world of information space.

Social equality: equal access to education regardless of place of residence, health status and social status.

Internationality: the ability to receive education in education institutions of foreign countries without leaving their country and to provide educational services to foreign citizens and compatriots living abroad.

The new role of the teacher: distance education expands and updates the role of the teacher, does him a mentor and consultant who must coordinate the educational process, continually improve the courses he teaches, enhance creativity and skills according to innovations.

Positive impact on the student: the increase of the creative and intellectual potential of the person receiving distance education, due to self-organization, the desire for knowledge, the use of modern information and telecommunication technologies, the ability to make responsible decisions on their own.

Quality: the quality of distance training is not inferior to the quality of full-time education, since the best teaching staff is involved in the training of didactics and the most up-to-date teaching materials are used; it is envisaged to introduce specialized control of the quality of distance training in accordance with its educational standards.

Since September 2011, the Center for Distance Training has been headed by Olga Zhdanova.

Since April 2016, according to the order No. 92 of 27.04.2016 it was renamed into the Center for Advanced and Distance Training (CADT).
